Glass grinding and drilling require the use of diamond tooling, such as grinding wheels and core drills.  The process of glass working wears down the sharp edges of the diamonds within the tooling, which reduces the effectiveness of the tooling.  Aluminum Oxide dressing sticks are used to expose new diamonds on the tool.

GLASSLINE stocks a wide assortment of dressing sticks for our domestic and international Customers.  It is important to choose the correct size of dressing stick.  Peripheral grinding wheels have a profile which is made to match the thickness of the glass.  The dressing stick thickness should be chosen to be approx. the same as the glass thickness.  For drilling, thicker dressing sticks are normally chosen so that the machine can drill down into the stick.  Typically sticks are 2″(50mm wide). We have alternative lengths as well, usually 7″ and 9″ long for fitting into different automatic stoning mechanisms. Glassline’s automatic servo stoning device uses a 9″ long stick for longer life.  Although we can supply custom sizes, below is a listing of our typically stocked sizes:
