After many years of producing CNC machinery, and utilizing third party CNC controls which had various drawbacks, Glassline developed, in 1992, its own PC-based CNC control system. Existing off-the-shelf CNC Controls were relatively generic and did not provide essential features required for optimum glass processing. These systems were also proprietary, making it difficult to make changes, and the cost of replacement parts were astronomical. Our CNC systems and software have been designed to provide increased throughput and improved tolerances at higher speeds, as well as other special glass processing features.
The original system was a DOS based system that proved to be very reliable, and many of our Customers still have these systems in use today. In response to market demands in 2002 we developed our new CNC controls around the Windows™ operating system. It is also a very reliable system, and it brought new features and capabilities to the controls and interface.
The Windows system of course is almost universally known and so very operator and engineer friendly. We utilize a large color touch screen interface in order to make the system even easier for the operator. Glassline uses commercially available hardware, which provides for wide availability, competitive pricing, and assurance that these products will be available and easily obtainable for many years.
