FOR CNC CUTTER & GRINDER PART GENERATION AND CONVERSION

Glassline's CNC SHAPEFIT is a DOS-based (Microsoft Windows™ version under development) software tool that enables users to create CNC programs for cutting and grinding glass parts. The system is based around a curve-fit routine that uses digitized data to create arc and line segments. All segments in the part are calculated to have perfect tangent transitions from segment to segment. The tangent segments allow CNC controllers to run the programs at high-feed rates without causing machine dynamic problems or undesired transition marks on the part.  The program uses data created by digitizers or CMM devices. Device drivers exist to digitize data directly into the program using an RS-232 serial port.

The program provides many CAD like utilities in a graphical environment for shape adjustment, such as move, rotate, stretch, offset, and fillet. For users that have parts that are geometrically defined, an AutoCAD™ driver exists that allows shapes to be imported and exported from AutoCAD™.

The program creates standard G code output and can be customized to any format required by the customer. The program is capable of automatically calculating locator positions and centering the part on machine axis.
